PENNSYLVANIA PROPERTY TAX / RENT REBATE

A little relief.
Help with the paperwork.

Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program helps eligible homeowners and renters recover part of the property taxes or rent they paid. ASY can prepare your rebate application. You are responsible for mailing the completed, signed application after ASY prepares it.

Currently accepting 2025 claims: applications for property taxes or rent paid in 2025 are due December 31, 2026, under Pennsylvania’s extended deadline.

Who may qualify?

The program is available to income-eligible Pennsylvania residents who paid qualifying property taxes or rent on their Pennsylvania home and meet one of these categories:

  • Age 65 or older.
  • Widow or widower age 50 or older.
  • Person with a permanent disability age 18 or older.

Age and disability requirements must be met for the claim year. For a 2025 claim, the program’s annual household income limit is $48,110 for both homeowners and renters.

Your rebate income is different from your tax-return income. One-half of Social Security income can be excluded, but other income that may be tax-exempt can still count for this program. Bring all income records for you and your spouse so ASY can calculate eligibility.

How much could the rebate be?

For 2025 claims, the maximum standard rebate depends on the program’s household income calculation:

2025 qualifying household income Maximum standard rebate
$0–$8,550 $1,000
$8,551–$16,040 $770
$16,041–$19,240 $460
$19,241–$48,110 $380

These are maximum amounts; your eligible property taxes or rent can limit the actual rebate. Some homeowners qualify for an automatically calculated supplemental rebate. ASY can review which rules apply to you.

Income limits change annually. This table applies to 2025 expenses claimed in 2026; use the correct year’s rules for later applications.

Bring these records to ASY.

  • Income documents: Social Security statements, pension and retirement statements, W-2s, interest and dividend statements, and records of other income for you and your spouse.
  • Homeowners: receipted property tax bills or other acceptable proof that your qualifying real estate taxes were paid for the claim year.
  • Renters: a completed PA-1000 RC Rent Certificate and the supporting rental information required by Pennsylvania. Ask your landlord to complete the certificate.
  • First-time applicants: proof of age and/or permanent disability, as applicable. Widows and widowers may also need documentation supporting their eligibility.
  • Application details: current, valid ID, your current address, any prior rebate application or state letters, and bank routing/account information if you choose direct deposit. Share sensitive records through SmartVault or bring them to the office.
