The IRS released a relatively LARGE amount of refunds today. Many of these items were related to old refunds. For the rest of the week, we expect the IRS to release smaller amounts of refunds.
As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, here are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS:
– for returns filed on 2/12 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/13 – 2/22, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/23 – 2/28, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/29 – 3/04, approximately 25% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/05, approximately 30% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/06, approximately 50% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/07 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.
