The IRS released a relatively small number of refunds today. For the rest of the week, we expect the IRS to release smaller number of refunds.
As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, here are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS:
– for returns filed on 2/12 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/13 – 2/27, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/28 – 3/05, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/06 – 3/07, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/08 – 3/11, approximately 25% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/12 – 3/13, approximately 30% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/14, approximately 75% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/15 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.

The IRS released a relatively larger number of refunds today, with many of the refunds begin from some of the older tax returns. For the rest of the week, we expect the IRS to release smaller number of refunds.
