The IRS released a relatively large number of refunds today. Tomorrow, we expect the IRS to release a relatively small number of refunds.
As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, here are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS:
– for returns filed on 2/13 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/14 – 3/04, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/05 – 3/19, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/20 – 3/27, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/28 – 4/02, approximately 30% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/03, approximately 40% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/04 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.
