As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, here are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS:
– for returns filed on 3/11 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/12 – 3/18, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/19 – 4/11, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/12 – 4/16, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/17, approximately 30% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/18 – 4/24, approximately 40% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/25 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.
