The IRS released a relatively small number of refunds today. Tomorrow, we expect the IRS to release a larger number of refunds with a fair amount of those being some of the more older refunds.
As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, here are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS:
– for returns filed on 2/12 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/13 – 2/22, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/23 – 2/28, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/29 – 3/04, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/05, approximately 25% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/06, approximately 40% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/07 – 3/11, approximately 55% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/12, approximately 65% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/13 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.
