The IRS released a small number of refunds today. On Tuesday, we expect the IRS to release a relatively large number of refunds.
As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, here are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS:
– for returns filed on 2/19 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 2/20 – 3/04, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/05 – 3/27, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 3/28 – 4/07, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/08 – 4/10, approximately 30% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/11 – 4/15, approximately 60% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/16, approximately 75% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 4/17 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.
