August 7, 2012 – IRS Refund Status Information

For the summer months, we will be updating the IRS Refund Information weekly. Keep in mind that you can continue to submit bank products during the summer and fall months. As of today, looking at statistics of tax returns recently filed, below are estimates of the percentage of refunds not yet released by the IRS. As is the case every year, the IRS will continue to pay some refunds throughout the year – even through December.
– for returns filed on 5/20 and prior, most refunds have been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 5/21 – 7/10, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 7/11, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 7/12 – 7/13, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 7/14, approximately 35% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 7/15 – 7/28, approximately 45% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 7/29 – 7/31, approximately 60% have not yet been released by the IRS.
– for returns filed on 8/1 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.

    – for returns filed on 5/14 – 7/04, approximately 10% have not yet been released by the IRS.
    – for returns filed on 7/05 – 7/11, approximately 15% have not yet been released by the IRS.
    – for returns filed on 7/12 – 7/13, approximately 20% have not yet been released by the IRS.
    – for returns filed on 7/14, approximately 35% have not yet been released by the IRS.
    – for returns filed on 7/15 – 7/20, approximately 45% have not yet been released by the IRS.
    – for returns filed on 7/21 – 7/24, approximately 60% have not yet been released by the IRS.
    – for returns filed on 7/25 and beyond, the IRS has released very few refunds.
